The Artifical Standard

Friday 8 Mar to Friday 29 Mar
Exhibit Image

‘Scientists always marvel at nature, at how it seems to be the grand code, with an inbuilt sense of purpose. Discoveries are made which reveal more and more that things are related, connected. Everything appears to be aware of itself and everything else, all fitting into an interlocking whole. We quite literally carve out our own realities. If you want to make a jigsaw puzzle, you must first start with the whole image and then cut it up. The observer, working backwards into the system, has the point of view that [they are]  building things up, … piece by piece. The prophet Mohammed said “All knowledge is but a single point – it is the ignorant who have multiplied it”.’

Bill Viola, Reasons for Knocking at an Empty House

An exhibition of improbable field research and in–direct observations of the world: where representation and measurement of nature is uncertain and far from standard.
