Opportunities for Artists

We help artists make and showcase work, meet each other and share ideas. See what we currently offer below.

Participate in Playground

An artist-led initiative, Playground is an open platform for artists to share, discuss and develop new work. Playground, now in its third year, is the most fertile creative hub in oxford. Get in touch to share your work or just turn up to experience some of the freshest locally grown art. Find out more.

Come to a Scratch Night

Got a work in progress you want to try out? Then come to one of our Scratch Nights. Each season, we have a Comedy, Dance or Theatre Scratch Night where artists can test out their work in front of an audience and get feedback immediately afterwards. Find out more by heading to the Tuesdays page or email info@oldfirestation.org.uk to apply.

Work with Crisis

Crisis are always interested to hear of artists from any practice who may be able to provide valuable skills and work with Crisis Skylight Members. If you feel that you could help both charities work together to bring the arts to everyone, then email Helen, Crisis Arts Coordinator>

Studio Artists

We have six artist studios for rent. They have 24 hour access and an abundance of natural light. See who our current studio artists are.

Sell in the Shop

Our Shop sells beautiful handcrafted and designed products made in the UK and we’re always looking for new and interesting items to stock.  Reckon you make or design something that would work perfectly in our shop? Take a look here to find our more >

A Home for Dance

The Old Fire Station is a home for dance in central Oxford offering a wide range of classes and space for professional dancers to create and showcase work. We work in partnership with Oxford Dance Forum to support the professional  development of dance through the Home Bed programme.

Exhibit in the Gallery

Through an open approach to exhibition programming, we aim to give support to a range of artists, curators and artists groups, as well as creating opportunities for collaborations with other art forms and partnerships with other local and regional cultural organisations. Working closely with Crisis Skylight, and integrating with the shop, theatre and dance spaces, we aim to bring an outstanding and wide-ranging programme to the public. When available, opportunities to collaborate or to exhibit in the Gallery are listed on our website. Take a look here to find out more>

 Join the team
We are a thriving arts centre offering a programme of theatre, comedy, dance and more. We need stewards to help us deliver great shows, workshops and gallery events. Usher, help on the bar or on box office – sometimes one, sometimes all three.
